The Village of Waterloo has taken a significant step towards modernizing its public safety infrastructure by commissioning MRB Group of Rochester to design a new campus for its police and fire departments.
The decision, driven by the inadequate size of the current fire department building for new fire trucks and the outdated police department facilities, was approved with a $19,300 proposal.
The proposed location for this state-of-the-art facility is on Burgess Road, with plans to incorporate it into the village for better accessibility and efficiency.
Mayor Walt Bennett highlighted the urgent need for the new facility, citing structural issues with the Village Hall and the inadequacy of the current fire department bays for housing new equipment. The village is exploring funding options, including grants and county sales tax revenue, to finance this pivotal project.
