In Waverly, New York, a distressing incident involving an 8-month-old infant suffering a non-fatal fentanyl overdose has led to the arrest of 48-year-old Timothy R. Henry.
The Waverly Police Department reported that the child was in severe respiratory distress when emergency services were called to the scene at 9:32 a.m. on October 13. The quick response from the Waverly Police and Greater Valley EMS was crucial in providing immediate medical care to the infant.
Upon arrival, officers found the infant not breathing and administered immediate medical assistance until EMS personnel took over. The child was initially rushed to Robert Packer Hospital for life-saving measures and subsequently transferred to Geisinger Medical Center for further critical care. Fortunately, the infant recovered from the overdose.
Investigations revealed that the infant had fentanyl in her system, leading to a joint investigation by the Waverly Police Department, Child Protective Services, and the New York District Attorneyโs Office.
As a result of the investigation, Henry was arrested on December 19 by the Sayre Police Department. He faces several charges, including second-degree felony assault, second-degree felony reckless endangerment, misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child, and second-degree misdemeanor reckless endangerment. Currently held at the Bradford County Jail on a $100,000 bail, Henry is awaiting further legal proceedings and an extradition hearing.
