Nicole Guilds, a 30-year-old home health care nurse from Webster, has been charged with abusing a 6-year-old boy with cerebral palsy and chronic respiratory failure, who required round-the-clock care.
The abuse, captured on the familyโs home surveillance video, occurred between October 1 and November 11. The boyโs parents, growing concerned after noticing Guildsโ increasing frustration and anger towards their son, ultimately decided to terminate her services. The abuse incidents varied in severity, including slamming the childโs head into a chair and dropping him on the ground.
Guilds was arrested on Wednesday, charged with endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person and harassment. Given that Guilds has worked with several other special-needs children, authorities are urging anyone aware of other potential victims to come forward.
She was arraigned in Penfield Town Court, issued an order of protection, and released on her own recognizance.
