Amidst a shortage of Grandma Brown’s Baked Beans, a beloved summer staple, a creative YouTuber known as BanDana Gramma has risen to the occasion by offering her own homemade alternative.
Originally from Upstate New York and now based in Maryland, BanDana Gramma spoke to News10NBC recently about the ubiquitous presence of Grandma Brown’s beans at every family gathering and picnic during her childhood.
She sought to recreate the taste with a homecooked recipe that she perfected after several iterations, drawing inspiration from the original can’s ingredients and other recipes found online.
BanDana Gramma’s homemade bean recipe has won her more than 13,000 YouTube followers. She was inspired to start her channel as a way to connect with her children who were unable to visit frequently. Her ingenuity didn’t stop with beans, as she is currently developing an Instant Pot version of the beans, set to be revealed on her channel in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, the production status of the original Grandma Brown’s Baked Beans remains uncertain. The company has not responded to media requests as the popular summertime food with roots in Upstate New York having been in a state of limbo for years.

FingerLakes1.com is the region’s leading all-digital news publication. The company was founded in 1998 and has been keeping residents informed for more than two decades. Have a lead? Send it to [email protected]
