Winter Weather Advisory active through Sunday AM: Expect snowy roads this weekend

It’s time for parts of the Finger Lakes region to get in on the lake effect snow action.

While most of the lake effect attention has been on Buffalo and western parts of the region – the attention has shifted to Cayuga, Ontario, Seneca, Wayne, and Monroe counties, who are seeing appreciable accumulation from northerly winds, bringing lake effect snow off Lake Ontario.

This has prompted the National Weather Service to issued a Winter Weather Advisory for all of those counties until Sunday morning.

While the snow will not be heavy at once, it will be sustained snowfall over the weekend that brings snowfall totals to 5-10 inches.

Use caution when hitting the road this weekend, and give yourself an extra 15 to 20 minutes to get anywhere in the region tonight through Saturday.
