The New York Yankees made a couple of surprising roster moves ahead of their series opener against the Kansas City Royals.
The club placed Jose Trevino on the 10-day injured list with a right wrist tear and recalled Ben Rortvedt from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Shortly after the moves were announced, Trevino spoke to reporters in the clubhouse and revealed that he will undergo season-ending surgery but expects to be ready for spring training in 2024.
Rortvedt has slashed .286/.395/.505 with six homers and 23 runs batted in over 29 games with the RailRiders this season.
