The New York Yankees (72-72) fell behind early but scored three unanswered and held on for a 3-2 victory over the Boston Red Sox (73-71) in Game 1 of a split doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon at Fenway Park.

DJ LeMahieu put the Yankees on the board in the sixth inning with an RBI single to left field, and Gleyber Torres put them on top with a two-run single to right field.
Clay Holmes walked the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth but induced a game-ending 4-6-3 double play to secure his 19th save of the season.
Game 2 of the doubleheader is slated for 7:10 p.m. It will be Carlos Rodรณn vs. Kutter Crawford.
