The New York Yankees placed starting pitcher Domingo Germán on the restricted list on Wednesday for alcohol abuse, the team said in a statement.
Statement from the Yankees:
“Domingo Germán has agreed today to voluntarily submit to inpatient treatment for alcohol abuse. He will be placed on the Restricted List for the time that he is away from the club.”
Germán last pitched Monday, throwing five shutout innings in relief after initially being scratched from his start for what the Yankees said was armpit discomfort.
The 30-year-old served an 81-game suspension under MLB’s joint domestic violence policy in 2019 and 2020.
