The New York Yankees (60-56) took the series opener from the Miami Marlins (60-57) with a 9-4 victory on Friday night at LoanDepot Park.ย
New York scored seven of its nine runs over the first four innings and got contributions from everyone in the lineup. Anthony Volpe got things started with a three-run shot, his 15th home run of the season. Aaron Judge crushed his 22nd homer, which went 464 feet. Oswaldo Cabrera, Isiah Kiner-Falefa, and Gleyber Torres added RBI singles. Kyle Higashioka chipped in a two-run single to give the Yankees some breathing room late in the game.
Ian Hamilton opened the game and allowed a pair of runs over two innings. Randy Vรกsquez came on in relief and surrendered two runs over 3 2/3 innings. Jonathan Loรกisiga, Tommy Kahnle, and Clay Holmes recorded scoreless outings.
