Sheriff Ron Spike of Yates County announced the county’s participation in the statewide STOP-DWI High Visibility Engagement Campaign from August 18 through September 4, 2023.
This initiative, aimed at raising awareness about the perils of impaired driving, comes as the end of summer – one of the year’s peak travel periods – approaches. Yates County will team up with State Police, the Sheriff’s office, and the Penn Yan police in a joint effort to diminish impaired driving-related incidents and fatalities during this period.
The STOP-DWI Labor Day / End of Summer campaign, backed by STOP-DWI NY and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, strives for a noticeable decrease in drunk and impaired driving through such highly publicized campaigns. Sheriff Spike encourages residents to plan ahead to ensure safe transportation.
