Billy Joel, who recently played his 100th monthly residency concert at Madison Square Garden, has cut another $5 million off the asking price for his Palm Beach County, Florida, mansion. The property is now down $15 million from its 2019 price of $64.9 million.
An updated listing by the brokerage Christian Angle Real Estate, which in February asked $54.9 million for the property in the town of Manalapan’s portion of Hypoluxo Island, is now asking $49.9 million.
Joel’s representative did not respond to a Newsday request for comment.
Joel, 74, bought the estate, with a 13,350-square-foot modern Mediterranean mansion on an 18,886-square-foot lot, for $22.1 million in 2015, according to property records. Completed in 2010, it was one of three area properties purchased around the same time by his South Florida Living LLC. He initially put the property up for sale in 2018, asking $31.9 million, per contemporaneous reports.
With both ocean and intracoastal frontage, the home has among its many amenities a theater room, adjacent pub room with full bar, paneled library with fireplace, temperature-controlled wine cellar, elevator, deep-water concrete dock, pool and air-conditioned garage with capacity for “12+” cars, according to the listing. Additionally, it boasts an “oceanfront columned loggia with summer kitchen, al fresco dining, TV, and fireplace.”
The property includes two outbuildings: a two-bedroom guesthouse with kitchenette, washer, dryer and elevator, and a two-bedroom staff house with kitchen.
Joel lives primarily in Centre Island and has an additional home in Sag Harbor. In May of last year, he listed his 26-acre Centre Island waterfront estate, dubbed Middlesea, for $49 million. The house went off market in November, with Joel’s broker citing renovation work and saying it would return for sale.
