An elderly woman was struck and killed Tuesday while crossing Cornwell Avenue in West Hempstead, Nassau police said.
The woman was crossing at the intersection of Wildwood Road at 6:47 a.m. when she was struck by the driver of a 2019 Hyundai SUV traveling eastbound on Cornwell Avenue, police said.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by police medics.
The driver, identified only as a 19-year-old male, remained at the scene, police said.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
