A Nassau County man faces a litany of felony charges after allegedly burglarizing a home and trying to steal multiple vehicles, including a patrol car that he crashed while trying to flee police on Thursday, county police said.ย Four people, including a police officer, were injured.ย
Nicholas Corrow, 34, of Valley Stream, is charged with second-degree burglary, five counts of robbery,ย grand larceny, criminal possession of a weapon, and four counts of assault, among other charges.
Corrowย first burglarized a home on Loring Road in Levittown Thursday around 9 p.m.ย and tried to steal a car parked outside but was unable to get far, according to police. He then fled south on Loring Road toward Hempstead Turnpike where he tried to steal a vehicle from a motorist stopped in traffic but was stopped by a Nassau County cop on the scene.
Corrowย allegedly brandished a knife and threatened multiple other people to hand over their car keys, police said. He was โerratic and combativeโ and refused to comply with the officerโs orders, according to a police release.
Corrow then took off in a patrol car westbound on Hempstead Turnpike while dragging an officer 20 feet, police said.ย
He smashed into another vehicle at the intersection of North Bellmore Road, leaving three occupants with injuries. They were taken to a local hospital for treatment.ย Corrow fled the scene on foot and police were able to arrest him, they said.
The officer wasย treated for his injuries at a nearby hospital and released.
According to police, Corrow has seven prior felony arrestsย and two misdemeanor arrests. He was onย probation for a March 18 arrest.
Corrow was arraigned and pleaded not guiltyย Friday at First District Court and was represented byย the Legal Aid Society of Nassau County.ย They could not be reached for comment.
Bailย wasย set at $60,000ย cash or $120,000ย insured bond, according to court records.
