Arlington school superintendent accepts job on Long Island

LAGRANGEVILLE – Dr. Dave Moyer, the superintendent of schools in the Arlington Central School District will be leaving at the end of 2023 as he has accepted the superintendent’s job in the Northport-East Northport Union Free School District on Long Island.

Moyer began his tenure in Dutchess County during the COVID-19 pandemic.

School Board President Mary Anne Meaden thanked him for his leadership over the past two-and-a-half years.

“He promoted student-centered, equity-focused, and future-driven learning experiences for all Arlington students while steering us through the challenges of returning to full-time, in-person instruction,” she said.

Meaden said the school board will look to appoint an interim superintendent to guide the district through the remainder of the 2023-24 school year and will name an ad hoc board committee to begin a search to find the district’s next permanent leader.

“Over the next three months we will work closely with Dr. Moyer to ensure a smooth leadership transition and continued fidelity to our district’s mission and goals,” she wrote in a letter to the community.
