EAST FISHKILL- Following the tragic line-of-duty death of East Fishkill Police Officer Daniel DiDato on the Taconic State Parkway last month, Assemblyman Anil Beephan (R, East Fishkill) is calling on the state Department of Transportation to install a guide rail along that section of the parkway to prevent a similar incident. DiDato’s patrol car left the parkway and struck a tree, fatally injuring the officer.
“It has been observed that sections of the Taconic State Parkway immediately before and after the crash site are equipped with guide rail, which has proven effective in mitigating fatalities,” Beephan. “Considering the sensitive nature of the recent fatality, our intent is to purely collaborate with NYSDOT to enhance safety measures.”
The accident that claimed DiDato’s life took place in the southbound lane of the roadway at mile-marker 36.2.
