CARMEL – Police are investigating the discovery of a bullet in the outdoor playground of a Carmel Central School District school building on Thursday.
Officials said one shell was found behind the George F. Miller Middle School causing the district to implement a security lockdown and stay-in-place order.
The discovery was made in the late morning and following an investigation by authorities, the lockdown was lifted at around 12:30 p.m.
The mother of two children attending the middle school said they were terrified during the lockdown.
The mom, who did not want her name mentioned, said the district only said there were security concerns in the school.
