Chamberlain dismissed from Poughkeepsie

POUGHKEEPSIE – Mayor Yvonne Flowers has not reappointed City Chamberlain Jasmin Davis, leaving a deputy chamberlain in charge of the office.  Davis was appointed by former Mayor Rob Rolison in March of 2021.

Just a few months after being named Chamberlain, David drastically reduced the office hours and availability of the staff, upsetting many residents and a few members of the council.

In June 2021, Mid-Hudson News reported that, without much publication, the office changed the hours, effective June 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, to a new, limited schedule.  The office kept the previous hours on Mondays and Fridays, but the middle of the week hours were been reduced.  The Chamberlain’s office is open from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Then-First Ward Councilman Chris Petsas disagreed with the change at the time, saying “That office is fully budgeted to be operating full-time.  At a time when governments across New York are re-opening as the pandemic wanes, I will be questioning why we are now reducing services to our residents.”
Deputy Chamberlain Donna DeLuca has been named Acting Chamberlain until Mayor Flowers searches for a new chamberlain.
