KINGSTON – Now that cannabis is legal for adult use in New York, a big question is what do you market to the customers?
Mike McGregor of Soft Power Sweets in New Paltz has been a chocolatier for 20 years but wanted to introduce it to chocolate lovers. The bottom line is it is a matter of taste.
“Trying to figure out how the cannabis world is going to react to chocolate has been a learning experience,” he said. “We are trying to figure out right now whether everybody just wants the cheapest cannabis that you can get per milligram or if they are looking for quality of what they are eating.”
And what McGregor has concluded it is a 50-50 mix of whether users want flavor or just to enjoy the effects of cannabis.
