ALBANY – With 4.5 percent unemployment, the cities of Poughkeepsie and Mount Vernon top Hudson Valley’s rate in September, the State Labor Department reports.
The Village of Port Chester had the lowest rate of 2.4 percent.
Regionwide, the rate of joblessness was 3.2 percent.
The City of Newburgh reflected 4.1 percent unemployment while the City of Yonkers had 3.9 percent and the City of Middletown had 3.7 percent.
Among the low unemployment rates were the Town of Rye at 2.5 percent, and the Town of Ramapo and Village of Spring Valley, both with 2.6 percent rates of joblessness.
