Drone helps Sullivan deputies catch flag thief (VIDEO)

ROCK HILL- Deputies from the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office nabbed a man who stole an American flag from the Trading Post Hardware Store in Rock Hill with the use of a heat-seeking drone.

At around 10 a.m. last Wednesday, police say Landon Dulaff stole an American flag from the outside of the Trading Post Hardware Store in Rock Hill.  He then walked to the Mobile gas station on Katrina Falls Road where he stole two alcoholic beverages.

Shortly after swiping the alcohol, Dualff was then seen running into the woods behind a nearby sanitation company.  To locate Dualff, deputies deployed a drone with thermal technology which quickly revealed Dulaff’s position in the woods.

After locating the suspect, police took him into custody without incident.  At the time of his arrest, police say Dulaff was intoxicated.

At the time of his arrest, the American flag Dulaff had stolen could be seen wrapped around his neck.  Dulaff was arraigned and released on an appearance ticket pending a future court date in the Town of Thompson Court.
