POUGHKEEPSIE – Two pre-dawn raids in both the Town and City of Poughkeepsie on Tuesday, resulted in the seizure of crack cocaine, fentanyl, cash, and a loaded handgun. Four people were captured in the operation conducted by the Dutchess County Drug Task Force.
The task force has been investigating the sale of fentanyl and crack cocaine in the Dutchess County area. As a result of this investigation, two search warrants were executed Tuesday morning between 3:15 a.m. and 4 a.m.
Moments before the first raid, suspect Phillip Stephens, 54, had left the 13 Worrall Avenue residence. He was pulled over on Main Street in Poughkeepsie where police found him to be in possession of a loaded handgun, and taken into custody.
Members of the task force, assisted by the City of Poughkeepsie Police executed the search warrant and took Marisol Rivera, William Moore, and Michelle Butler, all from the City of Poughkeepsie, into custody.
The second warrant was executed at a residence at Vassar Gardens Apartments in the Town of Poughkeepsie.
Stephens was held pending arraignment on felony charges of criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Marisol Rivera was taken into custody on a felony warrant from the City of Poughkeepsie police while Moore and Butler were both wanted on felony warrants held by the New York State Police. The three subjects were processed and turned over to the police agencies holding the warrants.
“The Dutchess County Drug Task Force, made up of law enforcement from several police agencies in Dutchess County, is going to continue removing dangerous, poisonous drugs from the streets in order to keep our county safe,” said Detective Sergeant Adam Harris.
