POUGHKEEPSIE – The Dutchess County Drug Task Force has increased its number of agents with the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department each adding an additional investigator to the task force supervised by Sheriff’s Office Detective Sergeant Adam Harris.
The Drug Task Force is currently made up of members from the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office, Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, City of Beacon Police, City of Poughkeepsie Police, Town of Poughkeepsie Police, Town of East Fishkill Police and the Town of Hyde Park Police. “The Investigators assigned to the task force embody unparalleled skills in narcotics-related investigations, unwavering commitment, and exceptional professionalism,” Detective Sergeant Harris said in announcing the additional investigators.
The task force is solely focused on apprehending drug dealers to prevent an increase in overdose deaths. “The addition of these new investigators will only accelerate our already fast-paced approach to removing dangerous narcotics including fentanyl from our communities,” Harris proclaimed. “This unit will remain laser-focused on narcotics and overdose deaths and the resources of the drug task force are exclusively utilized to combat overdoses in Dutchess County.”
Dutchess County Sheriff Kirk Imperati said, “I will continue to keep investigators assigned to the Drug Task Force to assist with apprehending and holding those accountable who choose to sell drugs in our communities. The Drug Task Force is the only dedicated narcotics unit in Dutchess County that is made up of talented narcotics investigators from multiple agencies working together as a team for one purpose, to
prevent deaths in our County.”
Town of Poughkeepsie Police Chief Cavaliere said, “The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department supports the mission of the Drug Task Force and their work to keep dangerous drugs out of our Town and surrounding communities.”
