Dutchess DA brings retired cop back to work

POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County District Attorney Anthony Parisi is continuing to make personnel changes to his office with the hiring of Jeffrey Wright as chief investigator.  Wright was a detective with the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department until his retirement this past Friday.

“Jeffrey will be a huge asset to our office, he has vast experience in intelligence-led policing, violent crime suppression and investigation as well as cell phone and data extraction,” said DA Parisi.

In 2006, Wright and a few others founded the Dutchess County Field Intelligence Group.  He was asked to join the FBI Hudson Valley Safe Streets Violent Crime Task Force where, from 2012-2022, he investigated gang activity in Poughkeepsie.

District Attorney Parisi stated, “I intend to devote resources to combat violent crime in the City of Poughkeepsie and Detective Wright’s knowledge and experience in the city will be invaluable in this effort.”

Wright welcomed the new challenge, saying  “I am honored to be asked by District Attorney Parisi to join the district attorney’s office leadership team in 2024, so much so that I have delayed my retirement from public service to be a part of Parisi’s team.”  Wright also stated that “the thought of joining such a forward-thinking team of highly motivated individuals fills me with anticipation for…
