Fallsburg wins grant to digitize records

FALLSBURG – The Town of Fallsburg has been awarded a more than $74,000 grant from the Local Government Records Management Improvement Fund to assist in the establishment or enhancement of records management programs.

The funds from the State Education Department will be used for the town to convert vital records into digital format and to implement advanced records technologies.

The grant will enable the town to “modernize our records management practices and protect our valuable records for future generations,” said Town Supervisor Kathy Rappaport. “The conversion of our records into digital format will not only enhance accessibility and efficiency but also provide greater safeguards against loss or damage.”

She said digitizing records will enhance searchability, reduce physical storage requirements, and increase security measures to protect against unforeseen events.
