Female who robbed two gas stations caught in Newburgh

TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – The female who robbed two South Road (Route 9) gas stations in the Town of Poughkeepsie last month has been apprehended by the City of Newburgh police.  The robberies occurred at the Chestnut Mobil at 2605 South Road and the Speedway at 2545 South Road during the evening hours of November 29, 2023.  The breaking Mid-Hudson News account from that evening can be found here.

Town of Poughkeepsie police identified 28-year-old Julia Marcinak of Highland Falls as the suspect in the robberies.  Police say she robbed the Chestnut Mobil and then went a few hundred yards south and robbed the Speedway station while displaying a semi-automatic pistol.  The robber was disarmed by gas station employees before she fled the store.

On Monday, December 4, 2023, members of the City of Newburgh police department located Marcinak and the vehicle she used in the armed robberies.  She was arrested on unrelated charges in Newburgh and turned over to the Town of Poughkeepsie police.

The woman who triggered a large-scale search of the area last month has been charged with the felonies of robbery and criminal possession of a weapon.  She was arraigned in town court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail on $50,000 cash bail, $100,000 bond, or $200,000 partially-secured bond.

She is scheduled to appear in the Town of Poughkeepsie Justice Court on a future date.
