HOWELLS – Fire of unknown origin ripped through a house at 407 Ingrassia Road in the Howells area of the Town of Wallkill.
For generations the Ingrassia family has played a major role in the Town of Wallkill, Orange County and state government.
Late Thursday night, fire tore through the roof of a home built by the grandparents of Wallkill Town Clerk Louisa Ingrassia and Town Public Works Commissioner Louis Ingrassia Jr.
The house “has been lovingly restored by our great neighbors who currently grow amazing organic vegetables in our families black dirt,” said Ms. Ingrassia.
Howells fire officials said there were no injuries reported and the cause remains under investigation.
Other area fire departments assisted in fighting the fire.
