MONTICELLO – A head-on collision between a school bus and a sedan before 3 p.m. on Monday resulted in four ambulances rushing to the scene to attend to the reported three adults and two special needs children on the bus and one person in the car, first responders said.
The accident occurred at Old Liberty Road and Crescent Lane in Monticello where the driver of the car crossed into the opposite lane of traffic and struck the bus.
The driver was believed to have been drinking and an alcohol bottle was observed on the road near the car. The woman was taken into custody.
A report from the scene said the motor vehicle caught fire.
The extent of any injuries was not immediately known.
