BEACON – A 29-year-old homeless man from New York City has been charged with burglarizing a business in Looper’s Plaza on Wolcott Avenue in the City of Beacon. As police investigated the incident that occurred on the morning of December 13, they discovered another business had damage to a glass door.
Security footage captured the suspect, who was apprehended later the same day.
Police have charged Ronald Johnson, 29, a homeless man from New York City, with burglary, criminal mischief and attempted burglary, all as felonies, and petit larceny as a misdemeanor.
While awaiting arraignment in a holding cell, Johnson repeatedly kicked the cell door in an attempt to damage it. As a result, he was also charged with attempted criminal mischief.
Johnson was arraigned and released on his own recognizance and turned over to New York City Police to answer an outstanding warrant for burglary.
