PHILIPSPORT- The Homowack Lodge Resort was one of the last destination locations to close from the famed Borst Belt era. Today, Homowack sits abandoned and there have been two fires at the property since this Sunday.
The most recent fire broke out on Tuesday night and was still smoldering in the morning hours of Wednesday. According to officials, there were more than 150 firefighters called out to the blaze from the surrounding counties.
Chief Mark Wharton of the Summitville Fire Department says fighting the fire was made difficult because it was very hot and there was limited access to the buildings.
