MOUNT HOPE- Incumbent Supervisor Matt Howell is facing a challenge from Paul Rickard, former Town of Mount Hope police chief, in the Republican primary for supervisor.
Howell is serving his first term as supervisor and is seeking reelection with the support of the Mount Hope Republican Committee. Howell and his family own and operate A.C. Howell, a local propane gas service company, and Howell’s great-grandfather served as supervisor of the town in the 1960’s.
Rickard served as police chief in Mount Hope from 2010 until his retirement in 2023. Following his retirement, Rickard became the director of Hope Not Handcuffs Hudson Valley, which is a deflection program aimed at bringing law enforcement and community organizations together in an effort to find viable treatment options for individuals to reduce dependency with drugs and alcohol.
Registered Republicans in the Town of Mount Hope are eligible to vote in the primary election. Early voting continues through Sunday, and primary election day is Tuesday, June 27th.
