LIBERTY – A Liberty man has been remanded to the Sullivan County Jail on bail after an investigation into illegal possession of a handgun.
Village of Liberty Police Chief Steven D’Agata said investigation led to the arrest of Maxim Prokopenko, 37, after a loaded .357 revolver was recovered from his residence.
The weapon had been reported stolen in 2012 from a Town of Fallsburg home.
Prokopenko was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property.
He was remanded in lieu of $30,000 cash bail, $70,000 secured bond or $125,000 partially secured bond.
