Man charged with attempted murder of ex-girlfriend

WHITE PLAINS – A 38-year-old Sleepy Hollow man has been arrested on charges of attempted murder and assault for allegedly shooting his ex-girlfriend in her home.

Westchester District Attorney Miriam Rocah said it is alleged that at 4:30 p.m. on January 2, Ruben Santiago forcibly entered the woman’s Sleepy Hollow home in violation of an order of protection and shot her with a .38 caliber revolver.

The victim sustained gunshot wounds to her neck and hand and was being treated at an area hospital.

Santiago was also charged with attempted assault, criminal possession of a weapon and aggravated criminal contempt.

He was remanded to the Westchester County Jail pending a future court appearance.
