Monroe man charged with stabbing ex-girlfriend’s new beau

MONROE – A 30-year-old Monroe man was committed to the Orange County Jail after he allegedly broke into a residence on Lake Street in Monroe and attacked his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend with a knife.

John Luke Popadopoulous was located when police arrived following the Wednesday night attack.

Monroe Police alleged that during an altercation with the other man, Popadopoulous used a knife to cause lacerations to the neck and chest of the 28-year-old victim who was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla in stable condition.

A search warrant was secured and executed at the residence where the knife used in the attack was recovered.

Popadopoulous was charged with burglary, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, aggravated criminal contempt, unlawful imprisonment, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal mischief.

He was remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $7,5000 cash bail or $25,000 bond.
