Nominations open for favorite older New Yorkers

MONTICELLO- The state Office for the Aging will celebrate Older New Yorkers’ Day on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, and Sullivan County is seeking nominations for two residents to receive the honor.

At an Albany ceremony, Sullivan’s honorees will be recognized along with honorees around the state with a commemorative pin, a hard copy book with biographies, and a certificate.  Additionally, they will be featured on social media and celebrated in local media.

The deadline for submitting nominees is February 7.  Nominations can come from civic leaders, elected officials, and community organizations.  The nominee should be a volunteer aged 55 or older that has made a difference in the community through civic engagement.
