Orange County Fire Services holds graduation

SUGAR LOAF- On Saturday, more than 80 residents from fire departments around the county graduated from the Firefighter 1 training program in Sugar Loaf.ย  Members of the six graduating classes that were recognized had all completed the comprehensive and intensive introductory training required to become an interior firefighter.

The course is comprised of 129 classroom hours and additional take-home assignments.ย  Courses were taught by Orange County Fire Instructors at the Countyโ€™s Fire Training Center in New Hampton and entailed lectures and hands on training sessions.

โ€œWe are proud of this yearโ€™s Firefighter 1 class and the commitment they have made to their communities,โ€ said Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus, a past graduate of the Countyโ€™s Fire Training Program.ย  โ€œI commend the graduates, along with the training instructors, participating fire departments, and their friends and families on being a part of this impressive achievement.โ€

โ€œWe are proud of this yearโ€™s Firefighter 1 class and the commitment they have made to their communities,โ€ said Orange County Fire Coordinator Vini Tankasali.ย  โ€œThe completion of this course illustrates the selfless dedication of each of the graduates and their belief in service to others.ย  I offer my congratulations and best wishes as well as my gratitude to them all.โ€
