MID-HUDSON – Several surveys conducted in December 2023 regarding traditional New Year’s resolutions indicate people are hoping to save more money. Physical fitness and diet are also part of the plan for many in 2024. Of the numerous surveys, 34 percent of U.S. citizens over the age of 18 indicated they were planning to make resolutions for the new year.
A recent survey by Statistica polled 417 respondents in an online survey asking “What are your New Year’s resolutions” drew the response of “saving more money” from 59 percent of those surveyed. A poll by YouGov.com of 1,000 people between the ages of 18 and 30 resulted in 37 percent of that demographic resolving to “save more money”. When combining all of the age groups in the YouGov.com poll, only 23 percent will try to save more money.
A large number of respondents listed improved physical fitness, healthier diets, and mental happiness just below saving money on their list of plans.
