Putnam sex offender charged with new felonies

CARMEL – A Level 3 sex offender from Putnam Valley has been arrested by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office on several felony charges, according to Sheriff Kevin McConville.  The arrest is the result of an investigation of Erick Santander, 26, after he failed to meet several notification requirements.

According to Sheriff McConville, a sex offender is required by law to verify his address every 90 days and appear to have his photo updated annually.  Santander missed several appointments at the sheriff’s office until finally appearing on August 24.  He was promptly arrested and charged with two felony counts of failing to provide a photo, one felony count of failing to verify address every 90 days, and one felony count of failing to verify personal information to the DCJS Sex Offender Registry.

Santander was processed and issued an appearance ticket for a future date in the Putnam Valley Justice Court.
