NEW YORK – A rally in Manhattan held by the Democratic Socialists of American in support of the Hamas attack on the State of Israel is being condemned by Democratic Congressman Pat Ryan (D, NY-18) and Republican Congressman Marcus Molinaro (R, NY-19). “He called it “disgustingly callous… DSA seeks an end to Israel. They embolden barbarism, and, I join in denouncing them in every way.”
Ryan, also in a post, said, “Let’s be clear what happened yesterday (Saturday): Hamas terrorists massacred hundreds of Israeli civilians, including women and children.”
He noted they took dozens hostage, including Holocaust survivors and American citizens. He said Jewish families around the world are wondering if their loved ones in Israel are alive.
“To know all this, and choose to hold a protest in New York City, home to the largest Jewish population in the United States, is blatant anti-Semitism.”
Ryan said the “only focus should be mourning those we lost and supporting Israel’s ongoing defense against terrorism.”
Democratic State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins of Yonkers called the rally “completely inappropriate” in the wake of the attacks by Hama. “We should never celebrate terrorism and hatred. Now is the time to strive for healing and peace.”
