SAUGERTIES – Thirty-one-year-old Walter Gordon of Saugerties has been charged with felony assault after a June 24, 2023 road rage incident spiraled out of control in Saugerties. Gordon turned himself in to the Saugerties Police on July 11, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. to be processed on the felony charge.
Saugerties Police Chief Joe Sinagra says that his officers responded to a fight in progress in the McDonald’s parking lot on Route 212 at 8:53 p.m. on June 24, 2023. Upon arrival, officers determined that a road rage incident that occurred in front of Smoker’s Choice in Saugerties resulted in a physical altercation between Walter Gordon and the victim. The victim, according to Chief Sinagra, sustained serious injuries, and Gordon, the assailant, had fled the scene before the police arrived.
On Tuesday Gordon turned himself in at Saugerties police headquarters. He was arrested, processed, arraigned, and released with an appearance ticket for a July 26, 2023 court appearance in town court.
