TOWN OF WALLKILL – New York State Police closed one lane of Route 17 westbound after a serious accident on Saturday night. At approximately 8:00 p.m., an SUV traveling westbound on Route 17 just before Exit 122.
When the vehicle left the roadway, it struck the guardrail in the center median.
State police say one passenger was rushed to Garnet Medical Center in Middletown in serious condition.
With the one westbound lane closed for several hours while the accident investigators searched for the cause of the wreck, traffic was backed up for a couple of hours.
