POUGHKEEPSIE – A small amphibious plane that landed in the Hudson River Tuesday afternoon resulted in panic at Waryas Park, where people began calling 911 to report a plane that had crashed into the river between the Mid-Hudson Bridge and Walkway Over the Hudson.
The plane, a Seamax M-22, is registered to 90 Knots LLC from Wilmington, Delaware, and was occupied by a male pilot.
Upon landing, the pilot maneuvered the plane up the boat ramp and proceeded up the roadway in the park.
As the City of Poughkeepsie fire department, police from multiple agencies, and EMS crews were responding to the reported incident, the pilot turned around, went down the boat ramp to the water, and proceeded to take off from the river.
Flight tracking data indicates the plane took off from the Resnick Airport in Ellenville at 2:36 p.m. and landed in Poughkeepsie at 2:54 p.m. He returned to the sky at approximately 3:15 p.m.
