MONTICELLO – Sullivan County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a second Mongaup Valley brother who eluded them since the July 12 residential burglary at 89 Brittman Road in the Town of Bethel in which a safe was stolen. It contained money and precious metals.
One brother, Anthony Boyce, 30, was taken into custody later that day, but Dakota Boyce, 31, wasn’t caught until Sunday, September 17 when he was attempting to sell stolen merchandise on the internet.
An undercover deputy posed as a potential buyer and when Boyce showed up at the Forestburgh Firehouse, he was taken into custody without incident.
Both men were charged with felony burglary and grand larceny. Dakota Boyce was remanded on $5,000 cash bail.
Sheriff Michael Schiff said Dakota was “very surprised when the deputies jumped out of the car and arrested him. He thought we gave up looking for him.” The sheriff said his officers “remain professional and undeterred.”
