Additional security has been dispatched to Monhagen Middle School on Tuesday morning after the district learned of an online threat made against the school on Monday night.
In a letter to parents, Enlarged City School District of Middletown Amy Creeden Superintendent Amy Creeden said “There is no evidence that this threat is credible.” However, out of an abundance of caution, additional security resources, including local law enforcement, were placed at all campuses in the district, according to Creeden.
“The threat, which police are investigating, was made on social media by an unidentified user who created a fake, well-known user name in an attempt to gain attention, and the threat has been shared rapidly by and among our young people,” Creeden wrote. “Once identified, the individual will be held accountable for their actions.”
The district is operating on a normal schedule and the investigation is ongoing.
