KINGSTON – The attack on a student at Kingston High School has resulted in the school district and police heightening security. “We are aware that this week’s incident may lead to a broader event in the future,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Paul Padalino.
With that in mind, the district has increased its security personnel and school monitor presence in and around the high school, and the district will continue to work with police “to ensure a high level of safety for students and staff,” he said.
Bag searches for anyone entering the high school will continue until further notice as well.
Padalino said the injured student, who was hospitalized, is improving.
He said he is planning to hold a series of conversations in student focus groups to discuss the event as well as broader issues concerning school safety, culture, and climate.
