TOWN OF WOODBURY – State Police are investigating a serious auto accident on Long Mountain Parkway – Route 6 – in the Town of Woodbury late Friday night with reports from the scene saying there were fatalities involved.
Police at the scene said the incident began when they tried to pull over a vehicle, but the driver failed to comply and took off.
Officers said a chase began with speeds reaching 100 miles per hour.
The driver ended up crashing into another SUV that was carrying children. A police vehicle may have also been involved in the crash.
Several people were severely hurt and transported to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla and Garnet Health Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill.
Two people took off on foot with a large police manhunt overnight in the forest of Harriman State Park involving K-9s, the Orange County SWAT team., drones and a helicopter from Rockland County.
