WHITE LAKE – The terminal building at Sullivan County International Airport is being demolished to make way for a new $20 million terminal building geared for corporate traffic.
County spokesman Dan Hust said the facility is being designed for one purpose.
“It won’t be a terminal for passenger traffic because we are not expecting that we are going to be competing with Stewart (Airport) or any of the New York airports for passenger traffic, but if ever that day comes, it will be ready for that day as well,” he said.
Hust noted that the New York metro-corporate airports are virtually at capacity and the White Lake facility is only a 30-minute jet flight away.
The Sullivan Airport was opened in 1969.
