HYDE PARK – A two-vehicle collision on Sunday morning sent several people to a local hospital and closed a portion of Route 9G in Staatsburg for several hours due to an accident investigation. The crash occurred at the intersection of Route 9G and North Cross Road at about 10 a.m.
The Roosevelt Fire District Chief said his department responded to what he described as a “serious” accident with numerous injured victims. The decision was made to request two medevac helicopters to the scene to transport patients but revised to reroute the helicopters to MidHudson Regional Hospital to meet the patients who would be arriving by ambulance. A total of four patients with various levels of injuries were transported to the hospital in Poughkeepsie.
The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office accident reconstruction team performed an investigation at the scene, keeping Route 9G between Fallkill Road and Hollow Road closed for approximately four hours, reopening to traffic at 1:50 p.m.
