DUTCHESS COUNTY – A few hotly contested races for town supervisor positions in Dutchess County’s largest towns resulted in some incumbents losing their seats.  On Tuesday night, the unofficial results show Democrat Rebecca Edwards leading incumbent Town of Poughkeepsie Supervisor Jay Baisley by 37 votes.  Edwards previously served as the minority leader in the Dutchess County Legislature.

In Fishkill, Republican Town Councilman John Forman was challenging incumbent Democratic Town Supervisor Ozzy Albra for the town’s top seat.  Just days before the election, Forman was arrested for stealing campaign signs.  Albra walloped Forman by garnering 3,208 votes to Forman’s 1,965.  “I’m very proud of the Republican crossover for me,” he said, estimating that 700 Republicans crossed party lines to vote for the Democrat.  Asked about the future, Albra said, “The residents can expect their quality of life to continue to improve,” while touting he kept his promise of keeping congestion-causing housing away by “stopping more than 1,400 high-density housing units from coming to Fishkill.”
