KINGSTON – Police in the City of Kingston and Town of Ulster have arrested three people for selling glassine envelopes with fentanyl and xylazine, an animal tranquilizer that is extremely dangerous to humans.
Following a three-month investigation into drug sales that began in August, police arrested Matthew Felton, Kanita Camara and Alyssa Coons.
They were all charged with several counts of criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance. Felton and Camara were indicted on Thursday, November 30 and Coons was arraigned in Kington City Court.
Police began their investigation following a growing number of both fatal and non-fatal overdoses of a suspected substance sold in envelopes marked with a “Moet” stamp. They usually contain heroin or fentanyl or a combination of both, police said.
Police are asking anyone with information of “Moet” bags to contact the Town of Ulster Police Special Investigations Unit. All information will be kept confidential.
Kingston City and Town of Ulster Police were assisted in the investigation by Rosendale and Saugerties police departments and the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.
