ALBANY – Riding on the Thruway between the Town of Newburgh and Plattekill should be as smooth as a baby’s bottom at work has been completed to repave the entire eight-mile stretch between exit 17 and the Ulster County town.
The project costs $9.7 million and will provide a smooth ride for the more than 40,000 motorists who travel on that section of the highway each day.
The project began in April and included full-depth pavement repairs, improving the structural integrity of the road and adding a new layer of asphalt.
Other improvements include new guiderail, additional reflective line striping and upgrades to acceleration and decelerations lanes at interchange 17 at Newburgh.
